Preparing for the date:
Ok, your date is set and the venue has been decided. The next step lies in deciding what to wear for your date. Remember that it is a special occasion and dress makes a lot of difference. If it is the first date, you should be all the more careful. The first impression is always based on the looks and then the character, nature etc follow. If you end up looking like a ragamuffin, your date will not bother to pay attention to your contribution towards charity at the old age home or how often you volunteer at the Red Cross. She’ll mentally have a picture of a ragamuffin and the associated behaviour. Don’t let this happen. Dress right for the occasion. Here are some tips for all you guys out there getting ready to go on a date.
| • | Remember to have a good shave and a clean bath before you leave whatever be the time of the date. Women usually prefer the clean shaven look better, at least when they are seeing you for the first time. |
| • | Body odour is putting off for anyone and women are no exception! If you sweat a lot, wear a deodorant or a perfume. Remember to make sure that you don’t use too much of it for it gives a headache to some people. Don’t go for perfumes that have a flowery smell, it smells girlish! |
| • | Coming to the clothes, wear a pair of clean and ironed jeans with a good shirt or a t-shirt. Remember to keep the clothes casual and don’t turn up in formals. You are going on a date and not to an official conference. Fair guys can go for dark coloured t-shirts. In fact many light coloured ones will also suit them. Guys who are not having a fair skin should wear underplayed colours. Fashion sense is something unique for every individual. So just be yourself and wear anything which is comfortable yet presentable. You should feel comfortable wearing it and carry it off well. There are men who can even carry of colours like baby pink (which is usually used to dress dolls) well. So it all finally comes down to what you can carry well. Also if your date likes you in a particular shirt, you can wear that too to make her happy. You know best what suits you. Don’t follow trends and film stars’ style statements and dress sense. What suits them may not necessarily suit you and the date is not the day when you want to experiment with fashion. Go by your choice and rely on your tastes. |
| • | If you are wearing shoes, make sure you wear socks (there are some men who wear shoes without socks even if it sounds utterly ridiculous). Let the socks not be smelly. Keep them washed well in advance. Else, go in a pair of floaters for that casual look. If they are branded, even better not that it is a necessary thing. |
Some tips which girls will find useful are:
| • | • Clothes: wear something which will make you feel comfortable. Avoid clothes that expose a lot. They may be provocative and if you don’t know that person, it is better to avoid these clothes and hence steer clear from inviting trouble. Decide your clothes depending on how cold or how warm it is. Dress accordingly. If you are expecting a warm evening, you could probably wear a long cotton skirt teamed with a short sleeveless top or a pair of jeans with a t-shirt. Khakis with short t-shirts also look great. Also clothes depend on where you are going for a date. If it’s the beach then, you should wear something casual. Cotton skirts work here too. If it is going to be cold there, wear appropriate clothes. If you are going for dinner to an expensive restaurant, wear trousers coupled with a shirt. If you are a little on the heavier side, dress accordingly. Follow the common sense tips and avoid tight fitting clothes. Wear dark shades as this will help you look thinner. Even for all you pretty ladies dating, the bottom line is to look good in what you are wearing and be comfortable at the same time. Fashion trends are set for a particular body size and it may not necessarily make you look great or even close to that. Coming to the jewellery, wear light jewellery. Don’t be decked up. A sleek chain with a small pendant looks nice on all neck types. Wear matching earrings. Don’t go for chunky pieces of jewellery. Dating is casual and dress in a casual and a presentable way. Wear a light perfume or a deodorant and smell sweet for the date. Make up should be subtle. Dating just requires you to look nice and more natural the look, the more the guy will like it. Majority of men like a girl without make up. So go for the natural look. Wear just a layer of foundation and see to it that your best features are highlighted. Fuss with your eyes with some eye make up. And wear comfortable foot wear which matches your dress. |
